Koth_Blackwater_A8

 Between this version and the last one I posted on here I've made some pretty substantial changes. First the route between lobby and spawn has been completely redone, the old version allowed too much freedom for people rushing to the opposing team's spawn and camping.

I also worked a lot on mid, simplifying the back room and making it lead more into the main area on point. The beach was removed, it distracted too much from the rest of the level and there was no real reason to even use it.

TF2 Fish Model

I was playing on a map a few weeks ago and noticed it had func_fishpools with trophy bass swimming in it. Decided to make a lil fish model for people to use if they need one. I did the model and my brother did the texture, it's fairly low poly at 150 tris.

Hammer Editor - Making Animated Props

Create a prop_dynamic and find the world model you'd like to use. While the model browser is open take note of what it listed under the Sequences tab, this lists the animations the model can use.


When you find the animation you'd like to use go into the prop_dynamic's properties and find the property named Default Animation. In its text field enter a sequence name from the model browser, in the example below I'm use 'idle', which is found in the sequence tab in the screenshot above.


Compile your level and your prop should now be animated.

I stated this map last year but abandoned it to focus on other projects, recently though I've been motivated by the Spring Cleaning Mapathon to work on it again. I've had it playtested a bit and have made decent improvements to the layout, focusing mostly so far on the staging area before the point and the middle building.

There are still a few things that need improving. Some of the back areas and connecter feel a little bit too awkward at the moment. I'd also like to rework the entire spawn section of the map, it's all pretty placeholder.
